  • dbovine: I just dont get how it becomes such a big problem or expense. Its always been this way, Why wouldnt the planners have regularly increased the budgeted amount of this as time went on, instead of ignoring it until its a bigger problem and then come up with some ridiculous methods to tax people. I mean if the amount I have to pay is based on my 2500sq feet of roof on my house, plus the 300foot driveway and the barn they are out of their mind. I dont pretend like these things don't need to be paid for and that the cost of things increases from year to year but how does it get this bad

  • kissrocksforever: It's just total mismanagement of funds and a lack of planning as you said, The amount we spend on things is outrageous. We're already taxed an insane amount compared to the value of property in this city..

  • SVOMACH1: City Hall is like a toxic flesh eating disease. They will keep consuming our tax dollars and never be satisfied til they kill us. They are also toxic for small business, taxing us until we have to pull the plug.

  • kissrocksforever: This entire country is Toxic to small business.

  • kissrocksforever: Within the next year or two we will be completely changing how we run our salon. Getting almost pointless keeping it open for what we draw from it unless we do some big changes.

  • Whiskeyjack: Among the highest municipal taxes in the province!. Lynne & I are seriously considering moving to Kingston. This Council is totally oblivious to the reality. I've been told 50-55% of the Sault's population is not working (either retired or unemployed). And they're still talking about raising taxes! Really...a kids Wading pool for 2 months of the summer?? Spending millions on redoing Bay Street? Spending about 1/2 million dollars on lawyers  for Essar's restructuring when the law dictates the liabilities structure?? This Council is totally irrational and uninformed.

  • dbovine: Kingston is a wonderful place. If work had not found me here(and then finding Family), I would have probably went back there I think. I don't dislike the Sault, the area, etc are amazing. but the refusal for change and reliance on a an unstable, non tax paying business I am not a fan of
