2006 F150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4
« on: January 08, 2017, 05:58:18 PM »
So I finally have the winter ride that I wanted. Its just a base 2006 XLT, so just a/c power windows and locks as far as features. Right now it has 373 gears in an open rear end. Motor wise its a 2v 4.6l v8. Which is nice, no phaser or plug issues. It has a short box, 5.5 feet. And factory upgraded 18" wheels that currently have 275 70s on them.

it need a some attention in a few spots but I will take care of them over time.
First thing I did was put a hands free stereo in it

and then I figured out how to customize it so it displays the ford logo when the car starts

it won't be a crazy build but I have to make it different from the guy at work that has the same one !

Went to look at a used Tonneau cover today after work, Cover turned out to be to far gone to save but looked inside and it had the XLT console, so I grabbed it instead. Going to clean it up and pull the jump seat. Ill post picks of that as well.

Couple pics of the install

You have to take the seat cushion off in order to get to the back bolts

and installed

From the Back

Other than getting to those back bolts, and I used some liquid wrench to free up the bolts as they go right through the floor. The seat bolt holes line up perfectly for the console, so I just reused the seat bolts rather than sourcing the studs that have to be installed up from underneath the truck.

Anyways, I always liked the console over the conversion seat so Im quite pleased with this find. Next for the interior, either a seat swap, new material or seat covers, and probably moving the 8" sub from the Mustang and putting it under the back seat in the truck.

So the bead was gone on my truck wheels and I didn't want to buy new expensive wheels so I waited till I could get a used set really cheap. I found a set with some stained and pitted chrome cladding so I had some plastic dip laying around and figured why not. I got a couple wheels done today.
